A mile of highway will take you a mile, but a mile of runway will give you the world. The runway at the Pembroke & Area Airport is due for a repaving, and the Airport is embarking on a campaign to do just that and we need your help! About The Runway The runway at the Pembroke & Area Airport is 5,000 feet in length, making it one of the longest runways in Eastern Ontario. The first 4,000 feet was paved in 1968, with the remaining 1,000 feet paved in 1986. It's now time for some fresh asphalt! The runway serves approximately 4,800 movements (take-offs and landings) each year. The agencies that use the runway include:
About The Campaign The Airport is embarking on a campaign to raise $1.5 million to repave the runway. People can purchase a foot of runway to be resurfaced for $250. Charitable receipts are available. In Canada, funding for airports is mostly tied to airports with scheduled passenger service, or for large development projects. But small airports, such as the Pembroke & Area Airport, serve an important link for our local communities. Consider this:
